Product Manager Interview Questions & How to Answer Them
4 questions you're likely to get for a product manager role, with a tip on what actually makes a strong answer.
Question 1
Walk me through a product you shipped from idea to launch.
Structure it: problem, why it mattered, how you prioritized, what you shipped, what happened after. Interviewers want your reasoning, not just the outcome.
Question 2
Tell me about a time you had to say no to a stakeholder.
Show you can defend a prioritization decision with data or user evidence, not just authority.
Question 3
How do you decide what to build next?
Reference a real framework you actually use (RICE, impact/effort, etc.) applied to a real decision, not a textbook definition.
Question 4
Describe a product that failed or underperformed. What did you learn?
Own the outcome honestly - a defensive answer here reads worse than an honest one with a real lesson.
Get the resume right first
A strong product manager resume is what gets you into the interview in the first place.
